The Awakening

I wonder where this country is going. Not so long ago we had a graduate who came out with a perfect 5 point cgpa probably for the first time in this country in the person of Ayodele Dada yet we hardly ever hear about him. It means he got an A in all his courses from his very first semester till his very last semester as a student.

I can at least thank God the national assembly decided to honor him and a handful of other Nigerians. But still where's the fanfare, the baloons, red carpets, encomiums and all? Most people don't even know about such a feat. Our youths are meant to sing his name but most of us were too busy mourning the break up of Psquare or too engrossed with Jumoke the bread seller turned model. But what about Ayodele Dada? A proud indigene of Ekiti state the fountain of knowledge who came out with a First class a perfect 5.0 at that.

You determine a nations growth by how much it values education. I expected President Buhari and Governor Ayodele Fayose to have honored Ayodele Dada a rare gem in a nations failing and dying educational sector to serve as a source of encouragement to all, that we can make a name not just through MTN project fame or what have you and to also show that we value education. Look around you and see the state of the nation. Our focus should be on encouraging education and not wasting money on entertainment. Give millions and endorsements to people like Ayodele and not just to project fame winners.

I strongly believe that Ayodele deserves more than just a handshake and words of wisdom from our lawmakers. He wouldn't make a perfect 5.0 by chasing women, are these lawmakers kidding me. Give Ayodele his due, let's just be real right now because the words from the mouth of our politicians is as worthless as a used recharge card

It's no surprise we hear Americans saying God bless America, but here in Nigeria we say "GOD HELP NIGERIA"
